Client Rights at Gateway Holistic Care

At Gateway Holistic Care Group, we are committed to protecting the rights, dignity, and well-being of every person we support. We believe that all individuals—regardless of age, ability, or background—deserve safe, respectful, and personalized care.

As a client of Gateway Holistic, you and your family are entitled to the following rights:

1. Respect and Dignity

Every client will be treated with compassion, respect, and kindness at all times. We recognize and honour each person’s unique identity and lived experience.

2. Safety and Protection

You have the right to feel safe in all our environments—free from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Your physical, emotional, and psychological safety is our top priority.

3. Privacy and Confidentiality

All personal information is kept secure and confidential. We only share information when it’s necessary for care or required by law.

4. Participation in Care

You have the right to be involved in all decisions about your care and services. This includes input on care plans, goals, and preferences.

5. Access to Services

We are committed to offering inclusive services that reflect your individual needs, within the scope of what Gateway Holistic can provide.

6. Advocacy and Support

You can voice concerns, give feedback, or file a complaint at any time—without fear of retaliation. You also have the right to involve an advocate to support you during this process.

7. Informed Consent

You will receive clear, complete information about any service before it begins. No care will be provided without your informed consent.

8. Quality of Care

You have the right to receive care that meets professional, ethical, and safety standards. Our staff are trained, qualified, and held to high expectations.

9. Cultural and Personal Beliefs

We respect all cultural, spiritual, and personal beliefs and will strive to integrate them into your care experience.

10. Personal Privacy

You have the right to personal privacy in your daily routines and during any care-related activities.

11. Right to Refuse Services

You may choose to decline specific services, as long as your decision does not compromise your safety or the safety of others.

12. Complaint Resolution

You have the right to express concerns and receive a prompt, respectful response through our formal complaint resolution process.

Land Acknowledgement

Acknowledgement of Barriers Related to Social and Economic Determinants of Health

At Gateway Holistic Care Group, we acknowledge that individuals and families seeking care may experience barriers rooted in social, economic, and structural determinants of health. These include, but are not limited to, income insecurity, housing instability, racial and cultural marginalisation, limited access to healthcare, and systemic inequities in education and service provision.

We are committed to recognising and addressing these barriers through person-centred, culturally responsive, and equity-informed care practices that uphold the dignity and well-being of all persons served.

Gateway Holistic Land Acknowledgement

At Gateway Holistic, we acknowledge that we operate on Treaty 6 territory and the Métis Homeland, the ancestral lands of the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway, Saulteaux, Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others. These lands, known as ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (amiskwaciwâskahikan), have long been places of care, connection, and healing for Indigenous peoples.

As an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with autism and diverse developmental needs, we are inspired by the holistic approaches to care and community embraced by Indigenous cultures. These teachings remind us of the importance of creating inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive, feel valued, and be supported in their unique journeys.

We honor the contributions of Indigenous peoples, past and present, who have nurtured this land and its communities with compassion and wisdom. At Gateway Holistic, we are committed to walking the path of reconciliation by incorporating inclusive practices, amplifying diverse voices, and fostering environments of acceptance and belonging for all individuals, including those with autism and their families. Together, we strive to build a stronger, more compassionate community rooted in respect and holistic care.
